  1. What exactly is a trip ?
    A 'Trip' means any travel to and stay at a Destination more than 120 miles from the starting point of the Covered Trip and not exceeding 30 consecutive days.

  2. Do I have to travel abroad to be covered ?
    You are covered for any trip away from your primary residence that is 120 miles or more in one direction.
    You do not have to leave your country or cross international boundaries, simply travel at least 120 miles in one direction.

  3. Is the Insurance just for business trips ?
    NO, You are covered for both business and pleasure.
    Corporate version of this coverage is exactly the same premium and coverage.
    It does not matter whether you travel for business or pleasure.

  4. I turn 82 on January 28, 2004
    Our All Travel Protection Plan has no maximum age of coverage.
    You are charged the policy rate for your age on the date you purchase the policy.

  6. What insurance company underwrites the insurance ?
    The insurance is underwritten by Sirius America, an A + rated (Excellent) by A.M Best Company. Their home office is located in Dover, Delaware and their administrative offices are in New York, NY.

  7. Is the coverage 'primary' ?
    Coverage is 'secondary' meaning the underwriter will pay you after any other Primary collectible insurance has paid the claim and the Primary policies' limits have been exhausted.

  8. I have Medicare and assume if they do not cover me, you will. Is this correct?
    Yes, our coverage is secondary, so if you have no primary health care program, or Medicare does not provide coverage, this policy then becomes primary.

  9. Am I correct in assuming that the 'Medical Repatriation', the 'Repatriation of Mortal Remains', the 'Visitor to bedside', and the 'Return of dependent children' are limited in total costs, to the Emergency Medical Transportation' $20,000 limit ?
    That is correct.     There is a $20,000 overall maximum for all of the following: (a) Return of Dependent Children : Cost of one way economy airfare; (b) Visitor to Bedside - Round trip economy fare; (c) Lodging - Up to $200 per day for up to 7 days; (d) Return of Vehicle - Up to $500; and, (e) Repatriation of Mortal Remains - Up to $3,000.

  10. Does this travel insurance cover pre-existing conditions ?
    The policy covers pre-existing conditions as long as
    1. it has been under control, and
    2. you have sought no treatment, and
    3. there has been no change in medication within the 60 days prior to the trip departure date.
    If your condition was stable during this period you will be covered.

  11. By "usual" and "customary", do you mean what is usual and customary in my country of residence (i.e. the US) or what is usual and customary in the country where I am traveling while I am sick ?
    Our coverage pertains to health care that is usual, customary and reasonable as measured by U.S. standards.
    Should you become ill while traveling, we provide a 24-hour assistance hot line that we highly recommend that you call before seeking treatment, whenever possible.

  12. Comparing your policy with others that cost much more makes me think yours is too good to be true!
    I keep wondering what the catch is!

  14. I would like to know if this insurance includes coverage for winter sports, skiing and scuba diving activities.
    The policy does provide coverage for recreational winter sports, skiing and scuba diving (if less than 135 feet in depth). Parachuting is not covered.
    However, if it is an athletic competition, coverage is not provided.

  15. How would benefits payments be made - reimbursement or direct payment to the provider?
    Death benefits will be paid to the estate. All other benefits will be paid to the Insured except for medical benefits (if applicable). These may be paid directly to the provider of medical services.
